What This Service Includes

Specialised housing for a specialised journey

Specialised Disability Accommodation (SDA) refers to housing that is specially designed or modified for people with very high support needs or extreme functional impairment. Asoumi Care's SDA registration means we can assist participants in accessing and navigating suitable SDA housing in Perth and surrounding regions.

SDA is not the same as Supported Independent Living (SIL) — SDA covers the physical home and its features, while SIL covers the people-based support delivered within it. Participants may be eligible for both.

Improved Liveability

Designs that provide better physical access and more functional features for people with sensory, intellectual, or cognitive disability.

Fully Accessible

Dwellings with high levels of physical access, including stepless entries, wider doorways, and turning circles for wheelchairs.

Robust

Very durable designs and materials for participants whose behaviours of concern place structural demands on the property.

High Physical Support

Designed for people requiring very high physical support including ceiling hoists, kitchen and bathroom modifications, and emergency power solutions.

Who This Service Is For

SDA eligibility

Specialised Disability Accommodation is available to NDIS participants who have a permanent disability requiring a very high level of support. Eligibility is assessed by the NDIA based on:

Evidence of extreme functional impairment in daily activities
Documentation that standard housing cannot meet the participant's needs
A recommendation from an occupational therapist or other allied health professional
Evidence that SDA funding would reduce the cost of other NDIS supports
